Designing holistic career paths for over 200,000 E4-E5 military personnel that exit military duty every year. With 55% of transitioning military personnel wanting a career change from their job in the army, this needed a fresh approach.
Current a military to civilian skill translators only output 1 to 1 matches; if you were a tank driver in the military you would only be suggested truck driving jobs.

Insights from research
Many of the personnel have to relearn the civilian way of life, the language, attitudes, approaches especially in a professional environment are foreign.
Military personnel have previously received guidance to civilian careers that offer a direct match for match on their skills.
Military personnel have limited information on other options available to them in terms of careers.

Match soldier’s with relevant career opportunities that meet their preferred lifestyle and career choice.
Eliminate barrier to entry caused by civilian jargon and processes in finding and securing a job or career.

Focus in Design
Our team focused on designing the output of the algorithm that will be powering Arbor Green's matching capabilities. It was important that we holistically match a person to a career, by taking into account their personal values, preferences, and goals.
Various data sources would be utilized to ensure that all of the above is taken into consideration when pointing individuals to right path.
